AN 80 KM/H RIDE IN THE HEART OF GERMANY
The Winterberg Zipline in North Rhine-Westphalia in the heart of Germany is an exciting new attraction that is drawing even more visitors to a region already renowned for adrenaline-packed sports.
The opportunity of building a Zipline in this area intrigued us immediately. The particular features of this German region allowed us to develop even more technical innovations for our Zipline components.
The departure station has been built above the village of Altastenberg at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. From the departure platform, visitors have magnificent views of the valley and forests below.
Two flight options are available: either horizontal – the so-called angel flight – or seated in the standard flight position.
The metal cables run for almost a kilometer and the height difference is impressive: 120 meters, with a slope of 12.8%. A thrilling drop!
Maximum expected speed is 80 km/h on a 50-second flight that’s sure to thrill all riders.
The Astenkick Zipline in Winterberg has been planned in 2017, when we carried out site inspections and preliminary planning. Construction began in 2018: the first step was building the departure and arrival platforms for the Zipline. After this, two parallel cables have been installed.
Once the cables were in place, we added the braking system, pulleys and all the necessary safety equipment. Last of all is the testing phase, which also includes staff training.
The Astenkick Zipline in Winterberg opened in late summer 2018, offering visitors an incredible flying experience in Germany!
